I collected all my baggage and made it through customs, found a cab, and headed into the city. The cab driver had never heard of my hotel, which turns out to be a little family-run thing in some back alley. It has quite of a lot of character, but unfortunately no windows. Seriously. My room is completely sealed shut like a tomb, despite the fact that it's 91 degrees here today.
Tomorrow I'll head over to University Paul Valery, where I'll meet my group and see my dorm. I haven't gotten to see much of Montpellier yet, since my flights pretty much wiped me out, but I'm looking forward to checking it out once I've met some other students. My plan for the summer is to really focus on studying and picking up the language--I'll probably explore and socialize a little more in Paris. So far, I've been able to get what I've needed, but still my french is pretty dismal. But in one day, I've already learned a bunch of vocabulary words relating to airplanes and flying. So I'm on my way!
I miss you all already! I still can't believe I'm actually here, and I'm still kind of in shock over how long I'll be gone. But I know this was the right decision, no matter how scary it seems.
Skype me!

Sara, I am thrilled that you've decided to do a blog and proud to be the first to post a comment. We miss you too but look forward to hearing about your adventure.
FYI to all Sara's friends - this skype thing is working great so hook that up if you can.

Hi Sara, I'm glad you made it. I've added your blog to my bookmarks so I expect you to dutifully keep everyone posted. Now start taking some pictures!
Love, Nathan
Aww! This is so exciting! And you've even posted your first blog. I completely expect you to keep up with it. See? Blogs don't have to be self-indulgent; they can be quite informative.
Keep in touch and let me know when we can get some skypage going!
Love, Misty
Sara, et voila', tu es en France! Well, not so voila' as you explained but you made it--wonderful one that you are, windows or not!
I look forward to hearing more of your adventures.
ciao,
Cristina
Post pictures. I think you made the right decision about the blog. Just don't start telling me how many coffees you drank today.
I miss you already. I watched the bachelorette today and cried twice (again). Probably, I shouldn't admit that in a semi-public forum. Anyway, let me know when we can skype.
Hope everything is going smoothly-ish. And that soon you learn some vocabulary relating to sexy boys and good food.
Hi Sara!
Great to hear you decided to do a blog! I am excited to hear of your impressions of Montpellier: I understand their summer festivals create quite a fun atmosphere!!
Bonne chance!
Love, Michelle

Sara!
Ca va?
I haven't had time to read through this blog yet, but I'm already vraiment impressionné.
Rest assured, your french is already much better than most...and will be second nature in no time.
I'll check out the rest and comment later.
À la prochaine!
Uncle Mike
