After class on Friday, we took a quick trip to Nimes to check out the ending of one leg of the Tour de France. The city itself was amazing, with Roman ruins built 2,000 years ago, beautiful gardens with classic statues and fountains, and a spectacular panoramic of Southern France from the highest point in Nimes. We scoped out a spot in the afternoon for the Tour de France Finale, which was packed. I had a stroke of luck and managed to wedge myself into this metal trash can ring that didn't have a bag in it, so I was literally right there. I could have been on YouTube as the person who caused a catastrophic collision at the finish by sticking my camera out too far. Anyway, it was so exciting! I had figured the bikers would trickle in over a half hour or so, but it was like, BAM, all at once, with just a few stragglers over the next few minutes. Check out my video, just ignore all my annoying commentary...

Beautiful, Sara. Keep it coming!!
I'll send you some pictures from a beautiful WI summer too. :) We're on Skype....!!
way cool video--kinda like when we went riding in Wisconsin:) We were going that fast, right!!
Love,
Mom
Great video, Sara!! The Tour de France...nice work!! I once knew someone who knew Greg LeMond....:)
When I was traveling, many times I came upon events just happening everywhere: a concert at a beautiful church in Prague, bike race in Aarhus, a drama at Tivoli in Copenhagen, chess games in the parks of Italy, etc., etc., and the list can go on. Europe is a wonderful place to "happen upon!!"
We love reading your updates. Keep 'em coming!!
Wow, nice camera work and I totally enjoyed your video!
I gotta admit, thats pretty neat.
Also.... that panorama of Nimes is messed up. You gotta be more careful when putting them together. If you look at the place where it puts the 1st and 2nd picture together you can see its duplicated some of the picture.
Photos fantastiques, Sara!
Je regarde le Tour de France quotidienne à la TV. Thought I saw you in the crowd!! ha! The Tour moves to the Alps then on to Paris. I'm so happy you got the chance to experience this "superbowl of cycling"...
Aloha, Tante Sharone

"There's a million of them!"
